Reverend Richard Yerrington, Interim Pastor The Reverend Richard Yerrington has spent his professional life in the ministry while also finding time to an artist who has exhibited his work locally for years. Reverend Yerrington was asked to serve as Interim Pastor at the Trumbull Congregational Church for a "few weeks" in February of 2003, a position he still holds. He had recently retired after seven years as Chaplain of the United Methodist Homes in Shelton with the intention of becoming an artist full-time. The Reverend has been both pastor and artist in his time at TCC, recently finishing the last of four seasonal paintings he has done of the church. The Reverend's Pastoral Ministry began when he served as a student pastor of the South Methodist Church in Middletown CT from 1954 to 1960. Though he had graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1951 to prepare for a career in Advertising Design, he soon decided to enter the ministry. He went on to graduate in 1956 from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in History and from Yale Divinity School in 1960 with a Masters of Divinity. He was then appointed as Pastor of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Unionville CT in 1960, and was pastor there while the congregation built a new structure in Avon, CT. He remained in that position for 18 years until 1978 when he was appointed Senior Pastor of the Golden Hill United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, CT where he served for another 18 years.
Pastor Yerrington was raised in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. He and his wife Penny are the parents of three grown children, Matthew, Adam and Sarah, all of whom live in the area, and they have three grandchildren. The Yerringtons lived in Trumbull for 20 years, and now reside in Beacon Falls, CT. They have a summer home in New Harbor, Maine.
